Teaser: Azoth is a guild rat who fights to survive in the slums which he was born. Blint will only take Azoth on if he can prove he's capable of murder. As Azoth's hands begin to shake and the sweat rolls across his lips, can he really become the heartless killing machine that Blint requires him to be to survive?

Short Thought: A fun adventure in a deliciously, dark way.

Expanded Thoughts: This is one of the "poor, dumpy kid turns into a powerful young man" story lines. I got about halfway through it and almost put it down.

Then, it started to get really freakin' good. It had war, politics, romance, with a lil' witty humor thrown in the mix. It went places I didn't see coming, and left at place that left me scrambling to get the next novel.

Recommended Especially For: Fans of Japanese anime stories, those of us with a darker side, and adventure fans
